Volunteers who wish to fundraise are encouraged to do so and will receive full credit for completing the AIDS Walk by lending their energy and talents at the event.
We love our volunteers and do our best to accommodate everyone who wants to help out. Please help us effectively manage our resources by letting us know when you would like to help out ahead of time.

Basic Function: Calling volunteers, runners, and walkers sign-up for the run or to help out.
Day Before (Sat., Sept. 27) Site-up
Volunteers Needed: 50
Shift start/end: 10:30am - 2:30pm at Balboa Park
Orientation date/time: Volunteers will be oriented at the start of shift.
Basic Function: Set-up and organize event venue. Lifting of chairs and tables is required.
Data Entry (Sat., Sept. 27)

Basic Function: Set-up, charging, passing out and ultimate collection of 145 2- way radios and headsets to assigned persons.

Basic Function: Cheer on the walkers and runners!
Registration: Walk
Volunteers Needed: 100
Shift start/end: 5-10am
Orientation date/time: 9-10am at The Center
Basic Function: Collection and organization of funds at Pre-Registration and Day of The Walk. Security of funds and transfer to courier and to Bank vault. Hand out T-Shirts and incentives to eligible walkers. (Must be over 18 years old.)
Registration: Run - FILLED

Orientation date/time: 9-10am at The Center

Route Breakdown
Volunteers Needed: 40
Shift start/end: 8am-12noon
Orientation date/time: Volunteers will be oriented on the day of the event at the start of shift, Balboa Park
Basic Function: Take down street barricades, cones, street closure signs and banners. (Must be over 18 years old.)
Route Monitors
Volunteers Needed: 225
Shift start/end: Sunday, 5:30-11:30am
Orientation date/time: 11am-12noon, The Center
Basic Function: Cheer walkers and runners along the walk. Give information and directions to participants along the route; Monitor road closures and direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Route Set-up
Volunteers Needed: 40
Shift start/end: Sunday, 4:30-10:30am
Orientation date/time: Volunteers will be oriented at the on the day of the event at start of shift, Balboa Park
Basic Function: Check placement of street barricades, cones, street closure signs, delineators along routes (walk and run). Assist in placement of route banners; Supply and set up of Water Stations along Walk Route. Mile markers and timers for Run. Placement of port-o-potties and trash receptacles. (Must be over 18 years old.)
Site Breakdown

Shift start/end: 10:30-2:30pm
Orientation date/time: Volunteers will be oriented on the day of the event at the start of shift, Balboa Park
Basic Function: Supervise clean-up and recycling.
Teams
Volunteers Needed: 25
Shift start/end: 5-10:00a.m
Orientation date/time: 2-3 in Balboa Park
Basic Function: Recruitment, support, and Set-up for the 200+ teams that walk. Set-up team signs and line-up order. Movement of Teams smoothly to the start line.
Volunteer Check-In - FILLED
Volunteers Needed: 25
Shift start/end: 4-11:00a.m
Orientation date/time: 2-3p at Balboa Park
Basic Function: Recruitment, support and assignment of volunteers. Volunteer check-in/check out and assignment Day of The Walk. Food, T-Shirts and coffee/beverages for volunteers.
Walk Site
Volunteers Needed: 15
Shift start/end: 5:30-10:30am
Orientation date/time: 2-3 in Balboa Park
Basic Function: Set-up, organization, and smooth flow of traffic from Registration to Vendor and Sponsor booths, thru Path of Remembrance/Quilt, Kids Fun Zone, Medical Booth and toward the Stage/starting area.
Water Stations - FILLED
Volunteers Needed: 91
Shift start/end: Sunday, 5:30-11am
Orientation date/time: 2-3pm, Balboa Park
Basic Function: Distribute water to walkers and runners as they go by on the route; cheer them on for encouragement.
